This is our story
Starting in 2010, jumping in the deep end, we created the Celler 9+ in Nou de Gaià, in the region of Taragona, with the idea of making different wines from our own vineyards.
Taking advantage of the influence of the Mediterranean Sea that makes Tarragonès a climate of warm and gentle weather, with average rainfall of 550 mm, we decided to work all the farms in organic farming; 22 hectares of which 9 are vineyards, 2 olive trees, 5 sown trees and 6 carob trees. Our philosophy is that the future (or present) will be ecological and sustainable ... or it will not be. In vineyards we cultivate autochthonous white varieties such as Macabeu, Cartoixà or Xarel.lo and Parellada. In black varieties we have traditional varieties, such as Garnacha, Tempranillo and Sumoll, as well as international varieties, such as Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon..
The farms are controlled and certified by the Catalan Council of Ecological Agriculture, the CCPAE
During these years we have been changing and evolving, adapting to the new trends and to the new philosophy of life that represents, not only organic farming, but also the way of life that respects the environment, landscape, customs ... We love to elaborate the range of Mèdol, both white and red, as they are young wines, with strength, joy. We thought of making some wines more innovative and we fell in love with the Mèdol Selecció and all its variety, Cartoixà, Cartoixà Vermell, Sumoi, Garnacha and the incredible Cartoixà Brut Nature. We are working to push the Serra Alta, in honor of the small Sierra in the northwestern part of the Bonastre Massif which, with its caves and crevices, full of incredible vegetation, inspires us to create a special range of wines and cavas that offer the best of our land. We continue working, we continue to evolve.
We believe that making organic wines without sulphites is, more than a whim or an invention, a necessity. The pollutants that are present not only in the air we breathe, but in all that we eat, the clothes we carry, the material we use, do nothing but get sick, weaken, become vulnerable. We believe that returning to the origins is part of the process of change, cultivating the land with respect, elaborating the wines listening to them, opening the senses around us. We have always opted to leave the preservatives back, we do not like antiseptics and that is why we do not use sulphur in most of our wines. We work to make wine aware to be able to enjoy with family, friends or with oneself, without fear of the consequences of a poorly elaborated wine. We seek that everything is fair and perfect in its field ...
"No més incerta de tan vehement la sorpresa amb què aculls la llum que esclata rera el mirall opac i els cortinatges angoixants i feixucs d'aquest llarg temps de prova. És així com la vida expressa el seu misteri i en referma la bellesa. L'entreteixit del temps no mostra cap fissura, flueix sempre, ineluctable. Tot és perfecte i just dins el seu àmbit. (M.M.i Pol)"
